Ndolge Gundogs

History of Ndolge

Ndolge Kennels (pronounced Indulge) was established in 1985 and is owned by Tracey and Jay Sharpe.  Tracey was born in a family that had showed and bred dogs for many years so it was inevitable that the showing/breeding bug was passed on.  Tracey's family began breeding Labradors and Curly Coated Retrievers in the early 70's and added English Springer Spaniels in 1975.  These breedings were under the "Gecane" prefix which now is home to Australia's Top Winning Staffordshire Bull Terriers.  Tracey's parents also breed under the Ricochez prefix who now concentrate on top winning Welsh Springer Spaniels.

During Tracey's childhood years she spent her time practicing and competing in Junior Handler Competitions.  All those years of advice from her parents and influential handlers at the time paid off with Scott (her brother) being a team to be reckoned with.  Between them they were successful in handling competition in both Queensland and New South Wales.  One of Tracey's finest memories was winning the Junior Handler competition in 1981 at the Sydney Royal under two of Australia's finest handlers Mr Guy Spagnolo (Driftway Labradors) and Norma Hamilton (Quailmoor Irish Setters).  At that Royal Scott also won his respective age group.

Junior Handlers is an area that Tracey has always been interested in and she is now qualified to judge Junior Handlers.  Recent judging commitments include the South Australian PAL final in 2000 and Toowoomba Royal Show 2002.

Tracey's first show dog was a Dalmatian bitch named "Tigammona Black Spirit"  Tracey partnered Brooke to many top wins during her puppyhood.  Tragically Brook was taken from this world at ten months of age.

The foundation bitch at Ndolge was a Dalmatian named Australian Champion Charpen Avril Charm - "Ellie-May".  Ellie-May produced two litters for Ndolge with top winning progeny in Australia and New Zealand.  Ellie-May produced Australian Champion Ndolge Royal Destiny for Ricochez Kennels.  Whitney was a multi Best in Group winner and top producer herself, producing MBIS/SBIS Australian Champion Ricochez Willow who is one of the Top Winning Dalmatians of her time.

After the passing of Ellie-May, Tracey decided to return to the Gundog world and purchased the real love of her life an English Springer Spaniel. Enter an energetic Black and white puppy into a busy teenage world.  "Australian Champion Oakspur Xtra Special" - Kirra.  Kirra was born in 1990 out of Australian Champion Cleavehill Morning Post (Imp UK).  Kirra was successful in the show ring being one of only two black and white springers being shown at the time, but her most success came as a mother.  Kirra had two litters but the second litter was the most successful producing One Grand Champion, two champions and mult best in show and group winners.  Kirra left us in 2003 but her legacy lives on in her children and grand children residing at Ndolge and thorughout the world.

Australian Champion Equity Master Plan - "Fletcher" came to live at Ndolge in 1993 and was very successful in the show ring and as a stud dog.  Fletcher won Puppy in Show at the ESSAQ Inaugural Show and Best of Breed at the 1997 Brisbane Royal Show as well as many other Royal Reserve Challenges and Specialty Class in Shows along the way.  Fletcher left us in 2005 but has passed on his wonderful temperament to all his off spring.

From "Kirra" mated to "Fletcher" came Multi Best in Show Australian Grand Champion Ndolge Bite the Bullet.  "Brady" is a black and white dog with an abundance of personality.  Brady was a multi best in show winner with his first at 11 months of age.  Brady was the first black and white grand champion.  Brady is now retired and spends his days lazing around at the farm.  Also from this litter was Australian Champion Ndolge Almost a Saint who is also a multi best in group winner and is owned by Lee and Steve Duke (Springhaven Kennels - Queensland).

In 1998 we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase a liver and white puppy from one of New Zealand's Top Kennels "Espaneire" where a lifelong friendship emerged.  Off the plane arrived Australian Champion Espaneire Out of the Box (imp NZ).  "Keellee" sire is NZ Ch Bowswood Brown Bogue (Imp UK).  Keellee has top English bloodlines of both sides of her pedigree and that came through with the success of her showing and breeding careers.  Keellee won 7 Baby in Groups out of 9 outings and did not stop there continuing to win many top awards at both all breed and specialty shows.

In the year 2000 we decided to mate Keellee to the top winning all breeds and specialty Best In Show winner Grand Ch Alhambra Oliver Reed.  Keellee produced two top winners in that litter being Grand Ch Ndolge Collectors Item and Aust Ch Ndolge Ounce OBounce.  Both these springers are Best in Group Winners and Royal Challenge winners with "Collectors Item" being a Multi Best in Show winner, Specialty Best and Reserve in Show winner and Multi Royal Best of Breed winner and Royal Runner up in Group winner.

At that time we also had Fairsky Murder OnthMoor - "Flynn" who was out of Brady.  Flynn was a Specialty Best in Show winner before travelling to New Zealand to live.

In 2004 we introduced a new breed Labradors to Ndolge being Gertrude Mary aka SBIS Ch Cambewarra Paper Bark.  Gertie is Jay's pride and joy and not only is a specialty Best in Show winner but a wonderful companion.

In 2007 we had a litter out of Nat mated to our Spencer and kept a young dog named Bart - Ndolge Think Big.  He is doing well in the show room and is a multi class in show winner and nearly titled.

In 2008 we had a litter out of our Bonnie mated to Albert and kept two puppies from this litter Spice and Macey.  Spice unfortunately passed away due to a snake bit at 15 months of age in 2010 and this left a large gap in our breeding program.  Spice is sorely missed at Ndolge.

We had a sad year in 2009 when we lost our beloved Gertie at 6 years of age from Cancer and our wonderful Brady at the great age of 15 years.

We introduced a new blood line to Australia by importing a Black and White from the famous Shipden Kennels in the UK.  Brumby is what we have been waiting for and is shaping up fine in the Australian Climate.  We look forward to some great showing and fantastic progeny from the young dog.

In 2011 our Bart aka Ch Ndolge Think Big made a move to my dear friend Amanda and Ricky Bush in Sydney and they have been doing extremely well both in the showring and in the progeny stakes.  We look foward to more Bart Babies in 2013.

Our breeding has been put on hold over the past couple of years due to family commitments and we have only attended a couple of shows a year.

In 2013 we are starting to return to the showring in Queensland and NSW.  We also welcomed to our kennel a new edition being Alhambra Shirley Bassey who we are enjoying campaigning at the moment.  In June, we had our first litter in 18 months and have kept a puppy and she is a black and white bitch 'Panda'aka Ndolge Royal Diva. She is a Puppy in Show winner with limited showing.  Unfortunately Panda had an altercation with a brown snake and we lost Panda at 18 months of age.  A devestating blow to us as Panda was not only a great showdog but a great person to live with.

During 2014 we lost our Bonnie after a long illness, she had cancer and she is sorely missed as the Matriach of Ndolge.  Two months later we lost Panda to a snake bite and with much sadness at Christmas we lost my beautiful Brumby..... we are still getting over these losses.

After much deliberation we thought we might give the game away and not show or breed anymore as the loss of such special dogs is too much to bear when along came our wonderful friend Amanda Borg who leased us a Brumby Daughter who we mated to Bart (Ndolge Think Big) and we decided to keep a dog from the litter who is known as

Ndolge Unforgiven (Clint).  Clint has helped to fill a hole in our lives and attended his first show in June and won Baby in Group.

At Ndolge we are proud to have in our kennels the threesome - our precious "Nat" Sandicam Wild Women Do who is a great producer and best friend of our youngest son "Olliver", "Bart" Ndolge Think Big who is a multi class in show winner and doing well in Sydney with Amanda Borg ;  "Ariel" - Sandmark Ariel at Ndolge (Imp NZ) who is our Spencer daughter ( who has just been retired from the show ring)  and the very naughty gardener  "Clint" Ndolge Unforgiven who is doing so well in the show ring.  We hope to have a friend join Clint in the showring in the near future..... watch out for details.

All our dogs have their own pages.... check them out and keep up with their show results.

Hope you enjoy our site and continue to return to check out the updates.
